After Willy Wonka snaps at Grandpa Joe and Charlie Bucket for sampling Fizzy Lifting Drinks, ( A final test by Wonka of character) Grandpa Joe threatens to give Slugworth the Everlasting Gobstopper. However, Charlie can't bring himself to betray Wonka and thus returns the Everlasting Gobstopper to Wonka. Because Charlie has EQ, he is accountable, after all, he did sample the Fizzy Lifting Drinks.

  1. this was so much fun for many reasons, but I took particular delight because "Willy Wonka and the chocolate factory" is my very favorite movie of all times. You're absolutely right, Charlie demonstrates emotional intelligence.

  3. Amazing. I watch this movie regularly with my son. In fact, we just watched it again last weekend. He loves it so much and because I NEVER get tired of it, it's always one I run to when he demands we "agree" on something because I can only take so much Spongebob! I also love that I get the chance to teach him so many life lessons throughout the story. There are lessons about love, respecting your elders, the dangers of gluttony and greed and being a "spoiled brat", and as you mention, emotional intelligence. I love that phrasing too, by the way. I always call it integrity or ethics, but these are all synonymous, right? Thank you!

  4. Hello Adam, So many lessons in this movie. So cool of you to watch this with your son. Character is the most important quality in a human being. You are a great example of how and when this starts. If only all parents were like you, and would understand how nurture is as important as nature, if not more. If children were like charlie, life would be beautiful:)You are such a young father and you get it. Your son is so fortunate. Thanks, Adam
